Energize with clever, unusual decor ideas and embellish the washroom with Christmas joy. ’Tis the season to be merry…

Deck The Floors

Every washroom needs a bathmat! Not only do they keep excess water off the floor, but also absorb the extra water when you step out of the shower, and the anti-slip backing of these rugs provides a good grip on slippery bathroom floors. A 100% cotton bath rug is the best alternative, as cotton absorbs many times its weight in water and dries fast. Get one specific for the season and bring the cheer into this space. From Santa to snowmen, snowflakes to stars…mats in reds and greens, and with festive messages, are sure to make your Xmas merrier. Available at AA Living

Spread The Xmas Scent

Bring in a winter vibe with aromas that heighten tranquillity. Festive candles in scents like vanilla, cinnamon, clove and apple (read more about these in our previous article “The Effects of Scents in the Bathroom”) will set the mood as you relax in your bathtub. Besides a pleasant fragrance, these scents lessen bacteria, help relieve pain and recuperate. Also try adding baubles of a different kind – ones handcrafted from the Shola (the white soft core obtained from the stem of the eponymous plant also known as Indian Cork). Owing to its divine origin and white colour, the substance is considered auspicious and pure. Available on BaroMarket

Party Up With Your Utilities

Add some red, green and white to your bathroom accessories. Toilet seat covers and shower curtains, in various Christmas-themed prints, are a great addition to the bathroom. Easy to install and clean, they keep the washroom unsoiled and prevent excess water spill. Style other utilities for the season too: Incorporate coloured toilet roll holders and snowman soap dispensers (works best with a foaming liquid soap) – more hygienic than soap bars, as the lack of contact with the soap, keeps the liquid bacteria-free and your vanity looking cleaner. Play With Leaves

Plants are a great way to bring in some colour to your pristine bath space. Place a small creeper on the countertop near your sink – decorate with fairy lights or pick from a variety of red and green faux vines to embellish the spaces of your dry area. Also nice to be kept on your vanity, or looped around your mirror. Just a simple wreath on the door can also add to that celebratory vibe. Available at Bageecha

Have a Merry Christmas!
