From inlay patterns inspired by flora to letting in pure sunlight and glorious nature views, your bathroom can incorporate nature into its environs in various ways. Designers from Hiren Patel Architects, ADND and reD Architects share unique ways to enhance the look of your private havens.

IDEA 1: Work In Motifs

Pick a singular floral or nature-inspired motif, and build the whole space around this theme. For this bathroom, we went with a floral motif as the client loves gardens. We used the motif by way of brass inlay on dark flooring, and have incorporated the same design in a custom-made light fitting directly above the floor pattern. Brass and wooden screens also follow the same theme, bringing the whole space together.  

IDEA 2: Embrace The Outdoors

Open, well-lit and pristine, this bathroom space lets in natural light with the use of transparent glass behind the basin countertop, while also maintaining privacy by keeping the shower and WC areas enclosed. The material for the flooring and walls is the same, bringing in a sense of uniformity and making the room more elegant. Using fixed glass openings to let in natural light or verdant views is a great way to make your bathroom seem more spacious and welcoming.  

IDEA 3: Make It A Lookout Point

This bathroom uses a two tone colour palette, with metal accents in brass. The focus of this bathroom is to frame the terrific view of the sea in the distance. The bathroom is ocean facing and on a high floor, so no other building looks into it. We have used a reflective film to give protection in the day and roller blinds to shield for adequate privacy at night. When a bathroom is well lit, go bold with darker elements – they bring out the contrasts in the space really well.
