Water Stewardship Through Uncompromised Design

Water is essential to life and core to what we do at Kohler. We are constantly innovating to provide and preserve access to clean and efficient water experiences for all—today and for generations to come.

Since 2007, sales of WaterSense®-labeled products from Kohler brands in the U.S. have achieved significant water, carbon emissions, and energy savings:

729 billion gallons of water saved

16.6 million metric tons of avoided CO2 emissions associated with water use

$14.5 billion in energy and water utility bills savings for customers

Assessing Water Risks

Kohler completed in-depth risk assessments of priority locations and are investing in restoration projects that benefit the water our associates, facilities, and communities depend on.

Smaller Footprint, Lasting Change

Since 2008, we have reduced our carbon footprint across global operations by:

65% reduction in GHG (Scope 1 & 2) intensity

55% reduction in waste intensity

57% reduction in water withdrawal intensity

Sustainable Products

Cast Iron

Built to withstand the test of time, our cast iron products are made with a minimum of 80% recycled material and available in a diverse array of styles and colors.

Water-Efficient Kitchen Faucets

Our portfolio of kitchen faucets in North America have a flow rate of 1.5 gpm, lower than the industry standard of 1.8 gpm to 2.2 gpm, helping our customers save water.

WaterSense®-labeled Products

In 2024, we added 144 new WaterSense-labeled products, which use at least 20% less water than average, and were recognized with our ninth WaterSense Sustained Excellence Award.

KOHLER WasteLAB Products

Driven by a passion for innovative sustainability, KOHLER WasteLAB takes landfill-bound materials left over from the manufacturing process and converts them into functional products of style and beauty.

All WasteLAB tile collections are constructed of nearly 100% repurposed manufacturing waste. Since 2019, WasteLab products have diverted 42.2 metric tons of waste as we continue to invest in research on how we recycle and reuse waste material.

With a long history of supporting artists and art organizations in our communities, these efforts reflect our passion to contribute to gracious living through the power of art and design.

Arts/Industry Residency Program

In 2024 the Arts/Industry residency program celebrated 50 years of unique collaborations that bring together artists and the highly skilled craftspeople who work in Kohler’s Wisconsin pottery and industrial foundry facilities. Founded in 1974 by siblings Ruth DeYoung Kohler II and Herbert V. Kohler, Jr., the program has welcomed more than 600 artists in partnership with the John Michael Kohler Art Center (JMKAC). Artists are exposed to technical knowledge and industrial processes that enable them to explore new, creative ideas.

Miami Art Week

During Miami Art Week 2024, Kohler displayed an exhibition entitled Makers in Place: Kohler Celebrates 50 Years of Arts/Industry that was curated by Kohler Co. curator and Arts/Industry alumni Michelle Grabner.

A/I 50th Collective

The Arts/Industry 50th Collective is a rotating public exhibition and event space curated by Micelle Grabner. You’ll find the exhibition in The Shops at Woodlake in Kohler, Wisconsin.

Alumni Weekend

Kohler hosted over 40 alumni for an Arts/Industry Alumni Weekend in partnership with the JMKAC. Guests participated in a Kohler factory tour and a community day with a panel discussion, artist talks, and an iron pour.

KOHLER MakerSpace Resident: Patty Chang

In 2024 Kohler MakerSpace resident Patty Chang worked in the Kohler, Wisconsin, pottery studio to develop a new work for the Monstrous Beauty: A Feminist Revision of Chinoiserie exhibition—on view at The Metropolitan Museum of Art through August 17, 2025.
