Reimagining the sink, together.
Kohler has teamed up with world-renowned artist Daniel Arsham to create Rock.01, a limited edition of 99 authentic 3D-printed bathroom sinks that masterfully blend digital technology, heritage craft, and nature-inspired forms into what can only be described as functional high art.

The first of its kind, this unconventional vessel sink reinterprets stacked rocks via 3D-printed vitreous china and patinaed hand-cast brass—symbolic of the collaboration and innovation built on the heritage of the KOHLER® brand. The sink’s physical composition underpins the notion of “future meets past” with a digitally crafted vitreous china body resting atop traditional brass; the basin a modern-day interpretation of primitive coil-building techniques. Each printed sink is unique unto itself, arriving in Arsham Studio-designed housing with a certificate verifying its authenticity and edition number. The small-batch edition is being produced to order by an artisan team at Kohler’s global headquarters in Kohler, Wisconsin. Please allow up to 12-16 weeks of production time for your edition

About the Process
Too complex to realize by traditional methods, Kohler leveraged new, internally developed capabilities with 3D-printed ceramics to construct the asymmetrical sink body. The final process involves a continuous 7.5 hours of print time, expertly tracing the designed pattern as the coil layers build upward into the sink’s unique form. The coordinating brass piece requires a similarly lengthy production process, each piece hand-cast and then sent through a lengthy chamber vapor patina process to arrive at its intended coloring.
