Partners Huzefa Rangwala and Jasem Pirani take us through the bathrooms of a palatial home they worked on in Punjab, each one a lesson in classic design and fine craftsmanship…
At this Ludhiana residence, tangible materiality, immersive design and a minimalistic spatial sensibility take centrestage. The residence houses three generations, creating a haven for each member of the family.
The private walk-in closets and bathrooms attached to each bedroom are true sanctuaries of wellness. The visual drama for these spaces comes from the patchwork veneer-clad wardrobes that complement the muted finish of the bathrooms. Monochrome mosaic floor tiles have been laid in reversed directions, bringing a sense of visual dynamism in the spaces. This visual-play culminates in the bathing chambers where the decorative tiles scale the walls.
Spatial Masterclass
The expansive bathroom and walk-in closet for the master bedroom are the embodiments of true luxury. The massive, speckled vanity island hosts his and hers stations, a large dressing mirror, and a line of wardrobes that take up a dedicated portion of the space. The monochrome mosaic tiles on the walls and floors complete the decadent look of the space.
Glory For The Guest
Tucked under the main staircase of the home is a plush powder bathroom that makes an impression with its bold solid hues and materiality. The radial floor patterns add a sense of dimension to the overall space. The blue marble vanity counter is the piece de resistance of the bathroom, while the black marble walls bathe the space in a dapper persona.
Homely Vibes
The walk-in closet for the parents’ bedroom on the upper level of the family home hosts storage along parallel walls, with a central vanity island that includes a mirror that seems to levitate over the counter. The material palette is a composition of deep-toned marble that seamlessly flows into the patterned mosaic tiles that give the floors and walls a sense of visual distortion.
No Child’s Play
In the children’s room, the closet houses a central stone-clad vanity and a mirror that is connected to the ceiling via industrial metal members. Fluted wardrobe shutters exude warmth in the sun-soaked bathroom. A dainty blush-hued dresser adds to the functional aspect, while keeping in line with the bright aesthetic of the bathroom. The mosaic floor tiles in the wet area assume a Tetris-like pattern, even as the black and white tiles flow across the floors and walls to create dynamic imagery.
